I did...

I did get a hair cut. One of you asked...and I realized that I hadn't posted a picure since I got it cut...almost two months ago.(seems like with my friend's blogs we mostly post pics of our kids...this is a good reminder we want to see YOU too!) It needs a trim-as seen in the NE game picture (one of the downfalls of short dos, you have to keep them short). This was back when the cut was fresh and sassy (as my stylist suggested).

This weekend the Mister and I had a special treat: free tickets to the Virginia Tech vs. Nebraska football game. Clearly, this is fantastic in and of itself; but once we got to our seats we knew the fun had just begun. We were on the 35 yard line near the south goal. We were 10 rows down from the sky box. We had actual seats- not just bleacher space. We had access to the 'club'- which entailed: fancy restrooms, interior space to lounge if we didn't want to be outside, an elevator with direct access to the ground level, and a fancier food stand. This was all very excellent.

The tickets were handed to me by my former boss two days before the game. We scrambled a bit to pull our plan together; making plans can be a bit more difficult with a kid. A friend volunteered to stay with P all day and we made the drive to and from Blacksburg in one day. Good times!


All in all, it was a fantastic day. Minus the 1 point that VA Tech had over NE at the end of the game. (sad tear)

shoes...again

This is a question for all the mommas with little ones...What kind of shoes do you wear and why? I would assume part of your answer will involve comfort, maybe for some of you style, and for others it might be all about convenience.

I need a new pair of 'fall-ish' everyday shoes. Are ballet flats still in? They don't seem to be going away...so maybe I am safe to buy another pair? I just retired my favorite shoes. They were green plaid ballet flats that I got on sale at Ann Taylor Loft for $20 and I wore them for about 3 years with basically everything whenever I could get away with plaid ballet flats- which was more often than I would have ever anticipated.

I am looking for advice on style for the fall (I realize that I am sort of out of the style arena staying at home with a 15 month old) and some good solid option for everyday shoes that make sense when carrying or walking around with a 15 month old. What shoes do you wear everyday? Do they give you good support? Are they versatile? Stylish? Thoughts?

Phoebe is obsessed with dogs right now. If she hears them barking she starts barking; either in a high-pitch throaty bark or something that is made up of all fffffs...she only catches on to the last letter of "woof" apparently.

Dog was the second sign (sign language) that she learned- which is two hand pats on the leg, as if you were calling a dog over.

Most animals are dogs to her, if she sees a cat or cow in a book it is a dog.

Our neighbor has a puppy at his house right now- it is really cute, but it is a pit bull. I am not thrilled that she is loving the dog!

The mister is hopeful that I will break down and get her a dog. But for now I am thinking we will just take a trip to the store and get her a stuffed animal dog.

some things on my mind this morning

First of all....how did it get to be the middle of September already? One minute it is August and the next...BAM...September. Yes, I know this happens every month, but this time I really cannot believe it. I was planning something for September 14 and one of my friends asked me to do something next Monday and I thought I was free, then I looked at the calendar and realized that next Monday IS September 14. Whoa; time should slow down a little.

Next...How awesome was our President last night? So awesome! (I thought he was.) I appreciate that he is a clear communicator. I like that he called Congress to step up and make some proposals to help rather than resist. I appreciate that he addressed the lies that our media creates to instill fear. And I love. love. love this quote: "We did not come to fear the future. We came here to shape it."

I understand that there are people who don't like the President, and disagree with what he said last night. But I LOVE our President. I think he is on the right track to reforming our health care.

Knowing people who use the Emergency Room as their main care provider makes it clear to me that there is a break down in the system. I am hopeful that someone can do something to get these friends health insurance, and educate them on why the ER isn't the best way to go about treating something that could have been prevented. Also, knowing people who have a small business that are worried about having another baby because the option they can afford doesn't cover maternity. It is clear to me that something is wrong with our system, and I am excited that our President is being clear about changing it.

One more thing...P got new shoes yesterday! Finally those tiny little feet have grown enough to fit into new shoes. I am sure you will see them either in person or in pictures to come...they are the only shoes that fit now. I might have to get her some new chucks too because the sparkly pink ones don't fit anymore either. sad.
