snow part ii

It is chillier than last time.
But seems much more gentle.
We consume coffee, hot cocoa, soup,
and anything else that warms us up.

Someone to Watch Over Phoebe

After a couple hours at the fabric store I decided I was up for this challenge, and then after buying the fabric I realized this project had to be finished. The instructions are a little fuzzy for someone who doesn't sew much.

Phoebe's Pheast day

A prayer for Lydia, Dorcas, and Phoebe on their joint feast day.

Filled with thy Holy Spirit, gracious God, thine earliest disciples served thee with the gifts each had been given: Lydia in business and stewardship, Dorcas in a life of charity and Phoebe as a deacon who served many. Inspire us today to build up thy Church with our gifts in hospitality, charity and bold witness to the Gospel of Christ; who livest and reignest with thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

daddy?

She started the day asking for him. Our days are always a little more difficult when he can't be home before bedtime. Lucky for us, those days don't happen often.

'I Pity da Foo'

Seriously, no one should mess with this girl when she wants what she wants! (the fight against the paci continues)

looking

Dinner turned out great! Except that he is allergic to the main course. Luckily, we had some leftovers to choose from.

is it 6:00 yet?

some days are harder than others but at the end of the day when she chooses me, my heart still melts. (of course the mister still takes the 'evening/night shift' because he is awesome like that!)

We woke up to more snow. But nothing like this:

To Do:

Today I have decided that one of my resolutions will be to DO more and think less. Well, maybe not think *less* but after thinking about doing something I want to actually put it into action. Often I wait for the 'right time' or for the Misters help or for someone to agree with me about what to do or for the next season. I can be paralyzed by all these other things/situations/input and then nothing ever gets done.

Today I:
  • Signed up for a the daily delivery of the Washington Post because I want the paper....Mr. likes to read it on line, but I don't and I am the one at home not in front of a computer all day, so I got the WP. (the mister did give me his blessing)
  • (TMI for some of you) Bought a new bra, because I needed one and I am not pregnant and I have no idea when I will be again so I really should get one that fits and isn't two years old. Right? Right!
  • Bought a new quilt and duvet cover for the bed.
  • Got two new notebooks...one for prayers and one for creation ideas. Instead of thinking about both of these things I will actually do them or make records of them so I feel as if I am doing and not just thinking.
I have been told we are human BEINGS not human DOINGS. But in the last 24 hours as I thought about who I want to BE, I realize that DOing helps me better BE who I am created to BE.

Epiphany

I am still waiting for *my* Twenty-ten to start. I am not feeling it yet. The tree is still, up we just barely have unwrapped all of our gifts and now we are supposed to move on to a whole new year?

We had a glorious celebratory dinner and ushered in the new year the 'right way' with champagne, watching the ball drop. But I don't feel like I have had space to relish 2009 and dream about 2010. Maybe after today, Epiphany, I will find some space for my own epiphany (with a very little lower case e).

finished

I did finally finish my December knitting task (well, one of them anyway- the other was just started). And here it is...a French Press Cozy. Hopefully it will keep the Doctor's coffee warm.

Here is the pattern thanks to Design*Sponge. I should have used a little bit heavier yarn but otherwise I was happy with how it turned out.

Closing out 2009...

...with good friends and good food. A,B, and (the other) P drove up from NC to hang out in the city, create a fantastic menu, cook a beautiful meal and celebrate the end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010. It was a lovely way to celebrate. We came up with a french theme and went to town!

"Elmo T"

Recording "firsts" of P's has been fairly easy..."baby" was her first word. But how do you count the first sentence? Yesterday, we had our first candidate: "Elmo T." Not sure if it really counts, but it seems like it is a candidate since it connects two ideas: "Elmo" and "TV."

It was immediately obvious to us that P wanted to watch an Elmo DVD on the TV. Of course, we had to test her meaning, so we tried to just give her the Elmo doll she often sleeps with, but she got frustrated at that and went and picked up the Elmo DVD case and pointed to the screen. OK...we get it!
