Since Phoebe has mastered crawling and walking...this is what we are going for next.
I am not sure if we should start roller skate lessons or dance lessons first?! Or, I guess, just drink more water.

This is Where We Live?!
What a weekend! We took a bike ride down the Potomac on Saturday. We drove down GWPkwy to get a little closer then rode the rest of the way into Old Town to get a treat at Ben and Jerry's. Phoebe wasn't really into the double-caramel-fudge-lots-of-fat-swirl-thing, it was her first taste of ice cream and she didn't really LOVE it. We walked around with our bikes- P leading the way on the front of the bike; we saw the guy who plays lovely music in glasses filled with water, as well as the street performers who make balloon animals. Then we got back on our bikes and headed to the car. It is fun to ride with P on the front because everyone we pass smiles and some even do the 'aww such a cute baby' routine.
On Sunday we went to the National Arboretum for a picnic. The Mister and I have both been there a few times but hadn't spent much time walking around. We did not feel like we were in the city next to a major road, instead it felt like we were in the mountains or on the plains; the texture of the arboretum is quite varied. We enjoyed our picnic in the Holly and Magnolia field then walked through the Asian gardens. The weather was lovely and the shade provided by all the trees kept us cool.
During both of these outings the mister and I kept reminding each other, this is where we live, we get to drive 10 minutes (or less) and be in these amazingly beautiful places.

Phoebe's Phirst Bikeride
The weather has been so fantastic this summer that we have been spending a lot more time outside rather than hiding inside next to the air conditioner. Both the Mr. and I have bikes that get used occasionally (mine not since before I was pregnant) but we have been deciding between a bike trailer and a bike seat for P, which has kept us off our bikes for a family outing. Finally, after seeing a few friends with the i-bert, we decided that was the seat for our girl. Last night we set out on our maiden voyage- around the block. Everything worked. P isn't too excited about her helmet but as long as we were on the move she was distracted enough. And my bike frame feels a little small for the i-bert and me, but it doesn't fit on the mister's bike so we will make it work. It is fun, and a great way to spend the early evening. We generally have about an hour from when the mister gets home from work and when P goes to bed; this will, hopefully, be a great way to hang out together.

Signs

I was instructed a while back that I was to report for jury duty at the DC courthouse on June 25. Having done jury duty before, I knew that this was one of those times when you simply show up and do as you are told...resistance is futile.
The initial part of the day went well. Instructions were given; instructions were followed. But after I signed out of the jury waiting area for my allotted 15 minute break, I was confronted with the sign pictured above.
While "Management" didn't seem to be watching (or present), I decided not to take any chances and ate my sticky pastry with my fingers.
