Laying Low

"So the king's men went looking for the spies along the road leading to the shallow crossing places of the Jordan River. And as soon as the king's men had left, the city gate was shut."

Joshua 2:07

I realized this last week that the Mr. and I are not that great at relaxing- rather choosing to relax. I know how to stay in my pj's till noon with a cup of coffee in hand, but when I do that I get antsy and feel a bit guilty that I am not doing other things. This weekend we made a concerted effort to learn how to relax!

I learned this weekend that staying out of the heat and watching a movie at 2 pm alone in our home- in the dark- when the sun is calling to me to come outside and play- is relaxing and that the sun doesn't know what it is talking about. We had a few things we wanted to see, so we ventured out in the evening instead, dining on sushi, but not making it to the Portrait Gallery- it will have to wait for a cool day.

Sunday the Mr. and I split forces, maybe a little bit TOO gender specific, but it gave us each freedom to relax. Mr. worked with his tools and wood creating a bench for our sun room, and I worked in the kitchen creating a meal for friends. When we brought the meal to our friends, our hope was to rush off and go to church, but then we realized that they needed some church brought to them, so we stayed and chatted about life outside the hospital, life inside the hospital, and the amazing people they have met on this journey. I learned that this too was much more relaxing and life giving than rushing off to yet another place.

In all the things we did this weekend, we found rest and life. The spies were laying low on a roof hiding from the king's men and I don't think that this passage is about relaxing, but it does seem that it is about waiting and resting before the next move. (or at least till the gates closed)

Provision

The LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast desert. These forty years the LORD your God has been with you, and you have not lacked anything.
Deuteronomy 2:07

We've learned a lot about provision at 207. Forty more years of it would be fantastic, but just the last seven days have been amazing. We haven't lacked for much over the week.

We have not lacked for family...especially not young ones...

...Nor fun (Mr. D schooled Bead Girl twice in a row! And Ms. Red had a great meal)

...Nor new duds for Mr. J for his first day at a great new school...

...Nor great views from the 207 Lido deck.

And we got to celebrate the provision of a fiancee for former 207 resident aka The Puppet Master.

And finish it all off with the final match in the World Cup.

Now we look forward to the provision of a little rest!
